Scripture Photo – Isaiah 25:4a

Storms come. Sometimes you can see them coming, and have time to prepare. Other times they come swift, and with ruthless accuracy. If our foundation is strong, our shelter secure, we can weather these storms well. We may come out of them looking a little bedraggled, but otherwise unharmed save minor scrapes or bumps. And if we aren’t ready? The injuries can be massive, the destruction overwhelming.

We can be prepared all the time if we remember that the storms will come. They will batter against us. If God is our foundation, if Jesus is our shelter, we can face the storms will peace in our hearts. We will be buffeted, but our tether lines will hold us. We will come out the other side, and marvel at the goodness and sovereignty of our Savior. We will see how we were held through the storm.

Father God, thank you for being our defense when we are helpless, a defense when we are in need, a help to those in distress. You are a refuge from the storm life batters against us, a shade from the heat life turns up. Help us remember to keep you as our foundation, to keep you as our shelter. Help us to remain ever vigilant about the storms on the horizon. We know they will come, but we can also know you are greater still. Though we feel tossed about, we can cling to you, our anchor. When it is over, and it will cease, we can praise you for your faithfulness. In your name, Amen.

Thanks, Holly. I wrote about storms last night. Yes, we do need to cling to him when they come. :)
