Do you see a teenager – anger etched across his face? See the woman’s smile as she walks by? How about the dirt smeared man bent over the trashcan?
The teenager screams for love’s grace to cover him. The woman’s eyes tell of pain so deep it’s all she can do to breath. And that man? Do you see the hopelessness? He’s starving for more than food.
How often do we glance without seeing? Really seeing? God filled vision looks past the exterior to the heart, to the eyes, to the soul. He sees their cries, their longings, their true need.
Lord, I don’t want to live blind. I want to see as You see. Let me see deep within, and show me how to pour love’s healing balm over those You bring my way. Family. Friends. Strangers.
I want to see me as you see me, too. Assured of Your love for me, so I can love others with a knowing birthed from personal experience.
Grace rains down, but do we step in for the cleansing?
Let me look deep into You for answers, for life. Let me look deep into others for knowing, and loving.
Lord, what do You see when You look at my heart? What do I see when I look at Yours?
“For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7b
…then hear in heaven your dwelling place and forgive and act and render to each whose heart you know, according to all his ways (for you, you only, know the hearts of all the children of mankind)… 1 Kings 8:39 (2 Chronicles 6:30)
Sheol and Abaddon lie open before the LORD; how much more the hearts of the children of man! Proverbs 15:11
“I the LORD search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.” Jeremiah 17:10
